Kansas coaching legends join former Hutchinson HS star’s staff at D1 level
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A few weeks after former Hutchinson High School and Pittsburg State University star Nate Dreiling became the youngest coach in FBS college football when he was named interim coach at Utah State, two Kansas coaching legends at the junior college and NCAA DII levels are joining Dreiling’s staff.
Stormont Vail Health’s vascular testing facility receives award for maintaining 30 years of excellence
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Stormont Vail Health’s Cotton O’Neil Heart Center received an award for maintaining 30 years of excellence in vascular testing. Stormont Vail Health officials announced that Cotton O’Neil Heart Center has received the Gold Milestone Recognition from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The award recognizes 30 years of excellence for the vascular testing facility. As one of the first facilities to earn IAC accreditation in vascular testing, they are part of an elite group representing their continuous commitment to quality patient care.

Arrest warrants issued for daycare operators after infant incident
PITTSBURG, Kan. (KOAM) - The Pittsburg Police Department has issued arrest warrants for two individuals operating a daycare in Pittsburg, KS, following an incident in which an infant was found unresponsive on June 27, 2024.
Commanding General discusses Fort Riley
Maj. Gen. Monte Rone told a Military Affairs Council Breakfast audience in Junction City this week that Fort Riley can't be a secret. Rone noted that his concern is always the single soldiers finding opportunities to do things, "finding unique ways that we can take care of all our Soldiers, especially single soldiers." Overland Park earmarks funds for sidewalk replacement in these 2 neighborhoods
Overland Park is planning to replace the sidewalks in two neighborhoods this year in the city’s northern half. Earlier this week, the Overland Park City Council Public Works Committee voted 6-0 in favor of using federal Community Development Block Grant funds to pay for the removal and replacement of the sidewalks in the neighborhoods.

Springfield city manager withdraws from job search in Manhattan, Kansas
After being named one of four finalists for a city manager job in Manhattan, Kansas, Springfield City Manager Jason Gage has withdrawn his candidacy. Renovated Sams Chapel Reopening This Fall
One of the most notable buildings on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University will reopen this fall, refurbished and remodeled. According to KWU, a fully renovated Sams Chapel will reopen Saturday, Oct. 19, as part of Homecoming 2024. The new performance space will be christened with a special concert, titled ‘Come Home,’ which will get underway at 7 p.m. and feature celebrated musical guests from KWU’s recent past. Aine Hakamatsuka ’12 and Christian McQueen ’18 are among those scheduled to perform.
