An Atlantic City man allegedly had a loaded handgun stolen from North Carolina when police arrested Friday on the city street bearing the state’s name.

Hakim Clark, 33, was walking down North Carolina Avenue when Officer La’Tray Butcher recognized him as having two active warrants.

One was out of North Carolina.

Butcher stopped Clark, who became combative and gave false information about his identity, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

Sgt. Gary Holmes and Officer Lorenzo Bethea assisted Butcher in arresting Clark, according to the report.

Holmes then found a loaded gun in Clark’s jacket pocket, which was reported stolen from North Carolina, Fair said. Clark also allegedly had 10 ecstasy pills.

He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, hindering apprehension, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, possession of CDS, refusal to be fingerprinted fugitive from justice and certain person not to possess a weapon.

Clark has prior convictions for harassment and terroristic threats out of Egg Harbor Township, court records show.

He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
