Lake Placid bids to host 2026 Winter Olympics sliding events if Italy falters
It's been a while since Upstate New York hosted the Olympic games — 44 years to be exact. Salt Lake City will host the Winter Olympics in 2034, but Upstate New York may have part of the games as soon as 2026. Lake Placid has submitted a bid to host the sliding portion of the games if Italy fails to improve its track by March of next year. If selected, Lake Placid would have three sports and 450 athletes participating.
