Two juveniles detained for stealing vehicle, items from vehicles
Two juveniles are detained for stealing a vehicle as well as items from several other vehicles in Audrain County. The Mexico Public Safety Department says officers were called to the 400 block of Bourne Street early Saturday morning in reference to vehicle being stolen sometime after 7:00 the night before. A few hours later, several reports came in about vehicles being rummaged through on the east end of town. The owners of four vehicles reported having items stolen from the vehicles.
Fireworks being blamed for Audrain County grass fire
Fireworks are being blamed for a grass fire that burned about a tenth of an acre in Audrain County. The Mexico Public Safety Department says crews were called to a grass fire in the area of Amelia Drive and Cardinal Sunday evening. When crews arrived, they found a fire moving into a nearby field. The fire was put out after spreading to about a tenth of an acre. There were no injuries reported, and no personal property was damaged.

Audrain County man convicted of being felon in possession of a firearm
An Audrain County man, charged in connection with a shooting three years ago, is convicted on one of those charges. The Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney says Trayvon Walls, 33, of Mexico, was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm yesterday. The trial was held from June 24 to the 26 and it took the jury 40 minutes to return with the verdict. Walls will be sentenced on August 5 and faces a minimum sentence of three years in prison and a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.
