Arts Programs Receive More Than $500,000 from State Council
Galloway, N.J. — The New Jersey State Council on the Arts recently awarded more than $500,000 to Stockton University to support arts programs. The grants include a record amount of $145,730 for the university’s Performing Arts Center, $56,030 for the Noyes Museum of Art at Stockton University and $300,000 for the co-sponsored “State of the Arts” television program that airs weekly on New Jersey Public Broadcasting Service. The money will be renewed annually for the next three years.

NJ woman sues Wawa after falling into dangerous hole
FLORENCE — A woman who says she fell into an open manhole in a Wawa parking lot has filed a lawsuit against the company. Courtney Barlow, 20, of Ewing, said she suffered permanent injury after the fall in the Route 130 store parking on Oct. 22, 2023, according to the lawsuit, which NJ.com first reported this week.

Drexel University Receives Funding from Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Grant for Job Training for Pennsylvanians with Disabilities
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) recently announced a new $200,000 investment by the Shapiro Administration in the Community Integrated Services (CIS) Manufacturing Accelerator Program to provide Pennsylvanians with disabilities the skills they need to secure jobs with local manufacturers. The Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career (MTTC) grant will help people with disabilities access manufacturing training programs at Drexel University and the Community College of Philadelphia. Upon completion, participants will receive assistance in applying to jobs with local manufacturers, and once hired, will receive support as needed.

Philadelphia Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Violent Carjackings, Resulting in One Death and Severe Injury
A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to a quarter-century behind bars for his role in two violent carjackings that left one food delivery driver dead and another severely injured. John Nusslein, 20, received a 300-month prison term from United States District Court Judge John M. Younge, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero. The sentencing also includes five years of supervised release, $5,300 in restitution, and a $300 special assessment fee.
