AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Miller Theater has announced that its general manager has been promoted to be the new executive director.

According to a July 23 announcement from Miller Theater, David Watts will now hold the elevated role of executive director. Watts had been its general manager since August of 2021.

“From hosting numerous sold-out performances to providing free movies for the community through our Movies at the Miller series, I am very proud of all that we have accomplished at the Miller Theater since taking the reins,” said Watts. “Perhaps what brings me the most joy is fulfilling the Miller Theater’s mission to provide diverse events and entertainment to the CSRA.

According to the press release, Watts has helped lead the Miller Theater in a way that promoted the growth of entertainment in Downtown Augusta.

“We are excited for the future of the Miller Theater,” said Beth Morrison, president of the Miller Theater board.

For 25 years, Watts worked in event and venue management and marketing in the Las Vegas area before returning to the Southeast. Watts is originally from South Carolina.

He has since been involved in several aspects of the community, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Augusta/CSRA Habitat for Humanity.
