Old Fort Western celebrates Independence Day with tours and a barbecue
AUGUSTA (WGME) - Old Fort Western in Augusta celebrated Independence Day by giving tours of the National Landmark and hosting a barbecue by the picnic tables outside the fort. CBS13 got a private tour from Greg Edwards of Bowdoin, which included the supply house and a dining room where at different times in our colonial past Paul Revere, Aaron Burr, and Benedict Arnold stopped to eat.

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Maine’s capital city hosted its annual July 4th celebration starting with a parade through the city. Thousands of people lined the route. Beginning at the State House, the parade made its way through the streets, ending at Old Fort Western. The parade featured superheroes, go-karts, and dance routines.
EVENTS: China Village Fire Dept. annual chicken BBQ July 6
The annual chicken barbecue sponsored by the China Village Fire Department will take place on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. The cost is $15 and will include a half chicken, baked beans, potato chips, roll and can of soda or bottled water. They plan to offer a drive-thru service again this year. Tables and chairs will be available for seating inside the station, or meals may be packaged to go. They also accept donations, made payable to the China Village Fire Dept., P.O. Box 6035, China Village, ME 04926.
