AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The two remaining finalists in the search for Austin's next city manager will make their first public remarks Monday night in a meet-and-greet event.

T.C. Broadnax and Sara Hensley will participate in a 'Meet the City Manager Candidates' event, which will feature statements by both candidates and a moderated discussion.

The event will get underway at 6 p.m. at the city's Permitting and Development Center, which is located at 6310 Wilhelmina Delco Drive, near Interstate 35 and U.S. 290 East.

The discussion portion of the event will be moderated by longtime Austin news anchor Judy Maggio; those attending the event will have a chance to interact with the candidates at a reception following the event.

Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m.; free parking will be provided at the facility's adjacent parking garage.

The event will also be aired live on ATXN, the city's cable channel, and livestreamed online.

Broadnax, who has served as the city manager of Dallas since February 2017, has already announced his resignation from that position. Prior to Dallas, he was the city manager of Tacoma, Washington. He has more than 25 years of experience in local government management.

Hensley has served as Denton's city manager since March of 2022; she's been with the city since May 2019 in varying roles in the city manager's office. Prior to her tenure in Denton, she served as director of Austin's Parks and Recreation Department and as an interim assistant city manager.

In addition to the public town hall, both candidates are meeting with members of the city management team and city staffers. City Council members will interview both candidates in closed session on Tuesday, along with a media availability.

Council members are expected to vote on a final candidate as early as next week.
