Petersburg tables interlocal agreement with County for fire and rescue services
The Petersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen is asking the Lincoln County volunteer fire and rescue department to provide fire, rescue and emergency management services to the Town of Petersburg. State law authorizes incorporated cities to enter into interlocal agreements with other cities for firefighting assistance. Since a portion of Petersburg is located in Marshall County, the Marshall County Emergency Communications District is part of this agreement “for the sole purpose of indicating its consent to the terms and conditions of this agreement.” However, the idiom “the devil is in the details” led the board to again table the measure after a lengthy discussion regarding certain points in the agreement.
