Ascension still recovering from ransomware attack

Ascension is still dealing with consequences from a ransomware attack discovered nearly a month ago, but says it's making progress.

One of the main goals has been to restore access to electronic health records. It hasn’t happened yet in Kansas, but Ascension has restored access in Austin, Texas, and Alabama & Florida.

The health care system expects to complete restoration in Kansas and across its other locations by the end of next week.

With access to the electronic health records, Ascension can move closer to normal operations. Clinicians will be able to access patient records as they did before the cyberattack.

Ascension Rx retail, home delivery and specialty pharmacy sites have been able to reopen, and health care providers can transmit prescriptions electronically to Ascension Rx pharmacies.

Ascension hospitals and facilities remain open.
