C.L. Butaud Wines —known for their mastery of the Mourvèdre grape—has opened a stylish new tasting room in Austin to showcase winemaker Randy Hester’s wines, made from 100% Texas-grown grapes. Located in the St. Elmo District of South Austin, the new C.L. Butaud tasting room offers customers the same intimate, friendly experience of the previous tasting room but in a sophisticated, modern design.

The new 1,200 square foot space has an ambiance that is approachable and comfortable, yet timelessly stylish. With seating for 58 people, as well as standing room at the bar, the C.L. Butaud tasting room features two different flights of wine as tasting options as well as wines by the glass. Cheese boards from La Bonne Merde in Austin are available to complement the wines.

C.L. Butaud was founded in 2014 by Texas natives Randy and Brooke Hester, a husband and wife team, and its wines have achieved critical acclaim locally and nationally. Winemaker Randy Hester honed his craft at some of the top boutique wineries in the Napa Valley before returning to Texas to launch C.L. Butaud, which is named for his great grandfather, Clet Louis Butaud, known as Frenchy. C.L. Butaud specializes in some of the distinctive varieties of southern Europe, such as Tempranillo, Mourvedre, and Grenache, and it is a showcase for Randy’s exacting, and sometimes unconventional, winemaking craftsmanship. All C.L. Butaud wines are made from 100% Texas-grown grapes. A personal favorite is the Blanc de Noirs, made from 100% Mourvèdre, and it's sure to blow your mind.

The C.L. Butaud tasting room is located at 415 E. St Elmo Rd., Suite 4F, Austin, TX 78745 and is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 1p.m. to 8p.m. and Sundays from 1p.m. to 6p.m. The Classic Tasting Flight (red, white, and pink wines) is $30, while the All Red Flight is $35. Cheese boards from La Bonne Merde are $35. Additional information is available at www.clbutaud.com or by calling 512-553-5701. Private tastings are also available by appointment.
