Cabana Club to open in East Austin

A new day-to-night poolside bar and restaurant will open Friday on Austin's rapidly transforming East Seventh Street.

Why it matters: Restaurants are finding new ways to tackle the heat in our increasingly hot summers, and the incoming Cabana Club is the latest business to get creative.

Driving the news: Cabana Club at 5012 E. Seventh St. will feature a pool for guests 21 and older, with nine cabanas and umbrella seating options available by reservation or on a walk-in basis.

• "Texas weather won't stand a chance against the shade, fans and heaters available throughout each season," per the news release.

Zoom in: The pool deck is the main attraction, but Cabana Club also features a clubhouse and a patio with a retractable pergola.

• The indoor space will include additional seating and a bar with 20 beverages on tap, including beers, a Progress Coffee espresso martini and cocktails.
• Plus, there will be a walk-up food window offering breakfast and lunch service from 7am to 3pm daily, and the backyard space will feature three local trailers, including a new concept by the Pueblo Viejo group.

What they're saying: "We created Cabana Club to be a place for anyone, anytime, any reason," Scott Withers, co-owner of Cabana Club and Progress Coffee and Beer, said in a statement. "Guests can start the day with a cold brew and their laptop and end with a dip in the pool and an ice cold beverage, all in one spot."

What's next: Cabana Club will open from 7am-midnight Sunday through Friday and 7am-1am Saturday.
