Longhorns fans were hoping that the weekend commitment of 4-star cornerback Kade Phillips was just the beginning of a recruiting roll. Then a hurricane decided to blow through.

    No, really.

As noted by SI's Longhorns Country, a pair of 4-star, in-state recruits who have focused on Texas as a finalist were forced to delay their commitment announcements because of the impending path of Hurricane Beryl. Tight end Nick Townsend of Spring (Texas) and wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson of Houston (Texas) Hitchcock were both originally scheduled to make their college commitments on Monday, July 8.

Now, because of weather issues, Johnson is expected to announce his collegiate decision on Wednesday, Dec. 10 while Townsend plans to announce his choice on Monday, Dec. 15.

While Johnson is largely predicted to land at Texas A&M, the Longhorns are considered the lone primary rivals for the Aggies in his recruitment. Meanwhile, Texas remains a heavy favorite for Townsend.

Now, neither will make their decision public until at least Wednesday, if not significantly longer, because of Beryl's path across the state of Texas .
