Police identify two dead in East Austin murder-suicide

Police identified the victim and assailant of a July 3 murder-suicide at an East Austin apartment complex, according to a Monday press release.

Law enforcement responded to an urgent 911 call reporting a stabbing at about 10:15 a.m. on July 3, the Austin Police Department press release said. Officers found two bodies with stab wounds inside a residence at Urban Villas Apartment Homes on Airport Boulevard: 33-year-old Iris Hernandez-Perdomo and her husband, Wilfredo Chavez-Chincilla, 40.

Police determined Chavez-Chincilla stabbed his wife before killing himself with the same knife, the release said. They have not provided a motive for the killing.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving aid, but Hernandez-Perdomo and Chavez-Chincilla were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
