The SEC happily welcomed the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners to the conference on July 1. Texas and Oklahoma bring their rich history from the Big 12.

Greg McElroy appeared on ESPN at SEC media days on Monday to discuss the conference and its new additions. He talked about how the SEC has something that is not as prevalent in the other major conferences.

McElroy talked about the move from the Big 12 to the SEC for Texas and Oklahoma. He pointed out that each SEC team has a player that could take over a game, which is not something he believes is not shared outside of the conference.

"Every single team in this league has first-round picks that are littered on both lines of scrimmage, and that's the big difference for Texas and Oklahoma as they transition," McElroy said. "Every person they face has a guy that will take over a game if you let them. You don't see that all the time in the Big 12, and you don't see that all the time in some of the other leagues as well."

The first 10 picks in the 2024 NFL draft featured three SEC talents. Former LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels was the first SEC player selected at No. 2 overall. Malik Nabers followed shortly after at No. 6. The Alabama Crimson Tide selected former offensive lineman JC Latham at No. 7.

According to ESPN, the SEC led all conferences with 59 draft picks in the 2024 NFL draft. It was the 18th consecutive year the SEC led all conferences.

The phrase "It Just Means More" carries weight in the SEC, and McElroy is a believer.
