    Country Icon Garth Brooks to Join Yet Another Hall of Fame

    Garth Brooks has received no shortage of accolades during his 30-year career. The “Friends in Low Places” singer has earned a record 22 ACM Awards, outsold the Beatles, and secured his membership in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Soon, Brooks will add yet another distinction to his resume: the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame.

    Garth Brooks Is “Flattered And Honored” To Be This Year’s Only ACL Nominee

    Austin City Limits, or ACL, is a music performance TV show that has appeared weekly on PBS since October 1974. It’s the longest-running music program in television history, according to its website.

    The show’s 50th anniversary coincides with the Hall of Fame’s 10th anniversary. And this year, Garth Brooks will join the ranks of Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Loretta Lynn as he is inducted into the ACL Hall of Fame The “Callin’ Baton Rouge” singer will perform during a Sept. 5 celebration at the Moody Theater in downtown Austin, Texas.

    Brooks shared the exciting news with his social media followers in an Instagram post Wednesday (July 17.) “Flattered and honored does not begin to cover it,” wrote the country legend in the caption. “Thank you ACL for all you’ve done for me and all you mean to music. love, g”

    Brooks has a longstanding history with ACL, dating back to his first appearance in 1990 just as his career was taking off. The two-time GRAMMY winner returned a decade later for ACL’s milestone 25th season. Most recently, Brooks returned in 2021 to play a pair of solo acoustic sets as a fundraiser for Austin PBS, KXAN reported.

    Brooks will take his place in the ACL Hall of Fame alongside wife Trisha Yearwood. The “How Do I Live” singer was inducted last year with John Prine.

    Brooks Announces The End of Beloved Web Series

    Garth Brooks kicked off his web series Inside Studio G in 2016. Each Monday, the country icon would chat with fans, reminisce on his career, and more. Recently, Brooks announced the series was ending its eight-year run.

    “I think we’re going to put an end to Inside Studio G this year,” Brooks said in a statement Monday (July 15.) He didn’t give specific dates, but said the show would end “probably sometime around Christmas.”
