Steve Sarkisian takes hilarious shot at rival SEC program who Texas has played just once in the last decade

It just means more in the SEC. That's what the Texas Longhorns were told when they joined the conference. That is the conference slogan. Well, it would appear that there are some familiar faces in the SEC, teams that Texas used to play all the time a long, long time ago. One of those teams was the Arkansas Razorbacks, who were the other half of a Southwestern Conference rivalry for years.

Now, the Razorbacks aren't exactly a team that anyone is scared of, especially not the two Big 12 teams that have been very good the last few years and are now set to join the SEC. The Razorbacks are one FCS loss away from firing their head coach, so, it's safe to say things are not going great over there in Fayetteville, Arkansas when it comes to their football program.

I guess it is fair to say the program has been in much worse shape than it is now, and one could say the same about Texas , too. But, the two teams really don't like one another, and there's no secret to that. But, with Texas being a prestigious football program with four national titles, and Arkansas, well, not being one, it's kind of one-sided when it comes to the fan bases.

It's more of Arkansas fans hate Texas, and Texas fans just kind of don't really care for or about Arkansas, but it's not really hate. That's a good way to describe it. But Steve Sarkisian, the Texas Longhorns head coach, described that a bit differently at SEC Media Days.

“They hate Texas more than they like themselves," Sarkisian said.

But the truth is, Sarkisian actually respects Arkansas and the former rivalries that Texas has had.

"I've been part of some great rivalries in college football, and I know there was so much talk about realignment and I know realignment looks different for every school, but for us, we gained two rivals back," Sarkisian said earlier this offseason. "We're playing Arkansas again, which is great for Texas and Longhorn nation."

And, he really doesn't have a choice but to respect Arkansas. The quote at Media Days is funny and all, but truthfully, Texas lost to Arkansas the last time these two played, in embarrassing fashion. And, Texas hasn't beaten Arkansas since 2008. Either way, when November comes, this game could be a fun one to watch.
