Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has revealed his thoughts on the infamous gesture opponents use against his team.

During a Wednesday night segment on ESPN’s “SportsCenter ,” Ewers, speaking at the SEC media day in Dallas, candidly shared his feelings about the "Horns Down" gesture, a common expression that opposing teams use against the Longhorns.

He claims it won't affect the Longhorns in a negative way.

"In the end, it's their choice," Ewers remarked. "It won't affect our game."

Ewers also admitted that while the gesture doesn’t affect the Longhorns’ performance, it isn’t something they appreciate seeing.

"We don't like seeing it, but it fuels our motivation," Ewers added.

This season marks a big shift for Texas as it transitions to the SEC.

Teams have historically been penalized for the "Horns Down "gesture in the Big 12, but the SEC’s policy change now allows opponents to use it to express their new rivalry with the Longhorns.

This shift has heightened anticipation for the 2024 college football season, with Texas joining the SEC adding to the excitement.

Expect teams to seize this opportunity.

As Texas enters the SEC, the Longhorns must brace for these new rivalries and the added challenges of their new conference. The lack of penalties for the gesture will likely be exploited by many teams, further hyping the upcoming season.
