Quinn Ewers is ready for guys like Isaiah Bond and Ryan Wingo to step up for the Texas Longhorns.

AD Mitchell and Xavier Worthy are off to the NFL, so Ewers needed new weapons. Bond transferred in from Alabama and Wingo comes in as an exciting freshman, for instance.

Bond is expected to be the immediate contributor though, and Ewers is quite pumped.

“At the end of the day, if we want to get to where we want to get to, we’ve got to hold everyone to a high standard,” Ewers said on Andy Staples On3 . “And the standard at the end of the day, I mean, all those receivers have really stepped into a good role. They’re all taking care of each other and it’s cool to see that they’re all competing for the same goal and they’re good friends off the field.”

Bond stood out for Alabama last year, particularly in the Iron Bowl beating Auburn . It was Bond catching Jalen Milroe’s 4th down pass, a miracle really.

Ewers has a good wideout ready to step into a WR1 role after Bond’s 48 catches for 668 yards and four touchdowns last year.

But it’s Wingo that’s enticing and could come in right away. As Ewers pointed out, Texas has to go through Fall camp, but Wingo is good. Even Luther Burden said so, per Staples.

“Yeah, I mean, again, I think that just goes to show you know, how mature we are, the experience that we had, and you know, even the younger guys are mature,” Ewers said. “Like a guy like Ryan Wingo has come in and really stepped up and it’s been cool to see how he’s handled his freshman year because he does not he doesn’t act like a freshman at all. He’s gonna be a good player.

“I think he’s gonna contribute to us for sure,” Ewers continued. “I mean, I’m not sure how that looks right now. We’re still gonna fall camp to go through and see how that all turns out. But that room is stacked, and I mean, it could go any way.”

As a member of the Class of 2024, Wingo was a four-star recruit out of Saint Louis (Mo.) University, according to the On3 Industry Ranking , a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 2 overall prospect in the state, the No. 8 wide receiver in the class and the No. 38 overall prospect in the class.

Ewers has a big year ahead of him, in terms of Heisman prospects, NFL buzz and ultimately, trying to win a national title. The wide receivers stepping up in camp to ramp up will be key.
