It's been a huge off-season for Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns football program. Ewers made the cover of the new EA Sports College Football video game. The Longhorns sent 11 players on to be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. And perhaps most importantly for Ewers, Steve Sarkisian brought in a completely new set of receiving weapons for him after losing Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and Jordan Whittington to the league.

When Ewers met with long-time college football media great Andy Staples at SEC Media Days he could not stop talking about how impressed he was by his stable of new weapons. His words should be music to the ears of Longhorns fans who have extremely high expectations for the 2024 college football season.

Texas Wide Receiver Group is Stacked

The Texas Longhorns brought in both (future first round pick WR) Isaiah Bond and Amari Niblack (tight end) from Alabama. Matthew Golden joined them via Houston. Silas Bolden from Oregon State. And then Sarkisian signed an absolutely stacked quartet of true freshman as well. Texas Longhorns have one of the best groups they've ever had talent-wise at wide receiver, and that's after sending two playmakers to be selected in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft.

However, surprisingly enough, the one name that stood out more than most in Ewers' interview with Andy Staples of On3 was Ryan Wingo.

"Even the younger guys are mature. A guy like Ryan Wingo...a guy that's come in and really stepped up. He doesn't act like a freshman at all. He's going to be a good player...[Wingo] is going to contribute to us for sure."

It shouldn't be a surprise to hear that Ryan Wingo is already making noise, looking ready to be a high impact player early for the Longhorns. At age 18 he's already a thick 6'2", 210 pounds with a physical style of play and speed to separate.

Wingo logged multiple 100-meter dash times under 10.7 seconds even as a sophomore in high school. Now he's running around 10.5 seconds in the same event. That's absolutely wild speed for a 210-pound playmaker.

In order to make a big impact in year one Wingo will likely have to beat out Matthew Golden for significant snaps, which will be tough considering how complete Golden looked at times for Houston. But it's certainly possible given Wingo's incredible talent and apparent fast start according to the Texas coaching staff, and now Quinn Ewers.

Regardless of how Ryan Wingo's season goes in 2024 the Texas Longhorns new wide receiver group is going to turn some heads around the nation every single week with how talented they are.
