AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas football is projected to finish second in its debut season in the Southeastern Conference. The SEC preseason media poll and All-SEC teams were released Friday morning as the 2024-25 season inches closer.

The eight-time national champion Georgia Bulldogs received the most votes to be crowned SEC Champions with 165 total points.

Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns are projected to finish second with 27 total points. Alabama is just behind the Longhorns. Texas is coming off a College Football Playoff berth last season.

Texas A&M was predicted to finish ninth on the table behind Texas’ rival Oklahoma. Mike Elko enters his first season at the helm of Texas A&M.

Texas A&M is set to take on the Longhorns on Nov. 30th at Kyle Field in College Station. This will be the first meeting on the football field for these programs since 2011 when Texas won the game 27-25 with a walk-off field goal by kicker Justin Tucker.

The All-SEC first-team begins with Texas Longhorn offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. The former five-star recruit from Humble has started 27 games at offensive tackle and is currently a projected first-round pick.

Placekicker Bert Auburn also landed on the first team of specialists. The Longhorns’ senior kicker was recently rewarded a scholarship on June 2.

Quinn Ewers was named to the second-team offense behind returning Georgia starter Carson Beck. Ewers is entering his third year as a starter for the Longhorns. Ewers threw for 3,479 yards with 22 total touchdowns.

The rest of the second-team of Longhorns consists of running back CJ Baxter, wide receiver Isaiah Bond, linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., defensive back Jahdae Barron, defensive back Andrew Mukuba, defensive back Malik Muhammad, and kicker Will Stone

The third team included center Jake Majors, defensive lineman Trey Moore, and running back Jaydon Blue.

Texas football opens preseason camp July 31.
