Former Texas football receiver Xavier Worthy is already making plays for one of the NFL's best offenses.

Worthy, the No. 28 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, caught a long touchdown pass from three-time Super Bowl winner and three-time MVP Patrick Mahomes on Sunday at Kansas City Chiefs training camp. Mahomes rolled to his left and flung a deep shot downfield to Worthy, who had beat his defender 1-on-1 before hauling in the pass in the end zone.

The former Longhorns receiver was drafted into an ideal situation for one of the league's best teams and offenses. The Chiefs, coming off back-to-back Super Bowl wins, were in need of a speedy receiver after Tyreek Hill, one of the NFL's most electric players, was traded to the Miami Dolphins two seasons ago.

Worthy hopes to fill that void, as he broke the NFL scouting combine record for fastest 40-yard dash ever in April, running the event in 4.21 seconds. The previous record (4.22 seconds) was set by former Washington receiver John Ross in 2017.

The first-round pick caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns last season, helping Texas reach the College Football Playoff for the first time. The three-year starter finished his Longhorns career with 197 receptions for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns in three seasons.
