    Five Olympic watch parties in Austin

    It's the summer of sports , and it's time to get your Olympic spirit on.

    Driving the news: The Paris Olympics began Wednesday with soccer and rugby kicking off the Games.


    • The opening ceremony is Friday, when athletes will parade down the Seine river in boats instead of walking in to a traditional stadium.

    What to watch: Seven coaches and 30 student and alumni athletes with ties to the University of Texas will participate in the Olympic Games, and at least three athletes call Austin their hometown.

    We've rounded up some local watch parties to get you started.

    1. Vacancy Brewing

    Watch the opening ceremony with ATX TV Festival on Friday at 6pm.

    • Vacancy Brewing will have drink specials, including a red, white and rosé Boxt wine flight.
    • Free with an RSVP .

    2. The Tavern

    Nothing beats a beer at this sports bar, and it's streaming all Olympic soccer games .

    • Happy hour deals from 3-6pm Monday through Friday.

    3. Easy Tiger

    All Easy Tiger locations will stream the opening ceremony from 12:30-4:30pm Friday.

    • Plus, they've made golden brioche tarts ($7) — topped with pastry cream, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries dressed in a delicate apricot glaze — to celebrate the games. Available only through Aug. 11.

    4. Lavaca Street Bar

    Fuel up for the opening ceremony with a corn dog or hot dog during Lavaca Street's opening ceremony watch party .

    5. High 5

    Bowl with your friends while watching the Games on High 5 Lakeway's big screens .

    • Food and cocktails available for purchase.
