Texas Longhorns officially one of the most bet against teams in all of College Football ahead of the 2024 season

The 2024 season hasn't even begun and the doubters (haters) are out in mass betting against the Texas Longhorns. BetMGM came out with their latest betting insights this past week on college football win totals and one thing was abundantly clear. Despite Texas making the College Football Playoff last year, most fans around the country aren't buying a repeat.
Texas Longhorns Expected by many to Underwhelm
According to BetMGM, only two other college football teams have received more bets on the "under" for their win total on the year than Texas: Colorado (who's also number one on "over" bets) and Georgia Tech.
When the initial line for Texas win total opened at 10.5 at most books this summer taking the under certainly made some semblance of sense as the Longhorns are joining the SEC this year and would need to reach 11 wins to avoid losing on an over bet. However, even after the line moved to 10 the under bets continued trickling in consistently.
It's true that Texas faces off against five projected "ranked" teams this season in Michigan, Oklahoma, Georgia, Kentucky, and Texas A&M. That schedule isn't soft. But this Texas Longhorns roster is built for the SEC. If the Longhorns were built like they were five to ten years ago this level of doubt would make sense. Not now. These are the Steve Sarkisian Longhorns.
Even after Texas sent Xavier Worthy, Byron Murphy II, T'Vondre Sweat, Jonathon Brooks, Adonai Mitchell, and Ja'Tavion Sanders to the NFL this year they still have an absolutely stacked roster. After posting three straight Top 5 recruiting classes and adding one of the best Transfer Portal classes in the country, Steve Sarkisian has a roster that looks ready to make a run at the national championship.
Their offensive line boasts incredible talents like former five star Kelvin Banks who is a surefire first round pick next spring. Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, and Amari Niblack provide excellent replacements for the receiving weapons lost last season. Trey Moore put up over a dozen sacks last year with one of the highest pass rush pressure rates in the nation before transferring to Texas. Andrew Mukuba joins the Longhorns from Clemson at safety. And on top of all that they have two five star quarterbacks.
It would take an absolute fall-apart kind of season for Texas to lose three games. Even if Quinn Ewers struggles, they have Arch Manning waiting in the wings. Betting the under when the win total line is set at 10 is just an absolutely horrible decision. The haters will see the error of their ways soon.
And if you need a reminder as to why the Texas Longhorns are going to absolutely B-A-L-L this fall, just check out some Quinn Ewers highlights in the video below!
