No program is tracking for a bigger August on the recruiting trail than the Texas Longhorns. Currently sitting at No. 15 in the On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings , head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are going to make a run at the top five as they’re in the mix for many of the nation’s elite prospects approaching their college decisions.

On3 delivers the latest intel on some of the top Texas targets that are left on the board.

Texas one to watch for 5-star safety Jonah Williams

Texas hosted Galveston (Texas) Ball On3 Industry five-star safety Jonah Williams this past Thursday and coming out of that trip the Longhorns look like they’re surging. Williams is set to announce his commitment on August 24. Don’t be surprised if they land him.

“Texas has always been a sleeper for me,” Williams said. “No one thought I was still interested in Texas.”

On3 also talked with his father Billy about the experience at Texas.

“It was a very good visit,” the elder Williams said. “I really liked the culture. What Coach Sark has accomplished there I’m really impressed with. I’m really impressed with Coach Sarkisian and the method he’s beginning to accomplish things. I think all the players are very in tune to what he’s trying to teach there. I’m very impressed with that.”

Sarkisian, Blake Gideon and the Longhorns staff has been visiting Williams at his high school going back to sophomore year. It could all pay off at the end of the month.

Williams will also play baseball at the school of his choice. The Longhorns program on that front has also impressed. “It’s going to be a “tough call” the elder Williams said while adding “Texas is high.”

    Five-star receivers feeling the Longhorns

I have two picks for Texas at the wide receiver position on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Those are Sachse (Texas) five-star Kaliq Lockett and Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin five-star Jaime Ffrench . I still like both of those predictions.

First to come off the board will be Lockett. He is set to commit on Aug. 7. The Longhorns are a finalist alongside Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida State.

The Longhorns got the last official visit from Lockett the weekend of June 21.

“The trip to Austin was another great experience in Kaliq’s recruiting,” Lockett’s father Kobi said. “The staff was very accommodating and the parents of all the recruits embraced each other like family during the visit which made it very comfortable. The parents were able to ask the current players questions about the program which gave much needed insight to what it’s like being a student-athlete at Texas. It was also confirmed that UT is an Ivy League school which my wife liked very much.

“What stood out most to me was how the entire staff including the recruiting assistant’s were all on the same page which made the weekend visit run very smoothly. Coach Sark is building something very special in Austin and this weekend has made it where Kaliq has a lot to think about these next few weeks ahead of his verbal commitment.”

The younger Lockett has always spoken highly of Texas.

“Coach Sarkisian and (wide receivers coach Chris) Jackson. What else can you say about coach Sarkisian and coach Jackson,” Lockett said about what has him looking at UT. “One came from the NFL and one came from coaching with Coach Saban and winning multiple championships, having multiple Heisman winners and NFL draft picks. You mix that with in with (running backs Coach Tashard) Choice, (tight ends Coach) Jeff Banks and also the defensive coaches — that’s a National Championship team right there.”

Ffrench will commit on his mom’s birthday on Aug. 30. Texas is trying to hold off LSU and Miami where Ffrench visited over the weekend.

“That Sark staff, a little bit of the offense,” Ffrench has said in the past. “Chris Jackson, he knows what he’s doing with the receivers, he’s been in the league for a good little bit.”

Lockett is the On3 Industry’s No. 3 receiver and Ffrench checks in at No. 4.

The Longhorns are also in the thick of it for On3’s No. 1 ranked athlete in Michael Terry III . The San Antonio native doesn’t have a decision date but he’s taking his final wave of visits with Texas coming first, then Oregon and now Nebraska. Less than 70 miles from Austin, there is optimism around Texas and the way Sarkisian wants to use him on offense is very exciting. We’ll see how it goes in Lincoln this week. Terry wants to commit before his senior season begins.

Offensive line is a big priority

Sarkisian and his staff have changed the entire identity of the Texas program with the way they’ve recruited both lines of scrimmage. And as they continue in this 2025 cycle, offensive line remains a major point of emphasis.

Three offensive linemen are currently committed in John Mills , Jackson Christian and Devin Coleman , and when all said and done five-star Michael Fasusi and On3 Industry four-star Nick Brooks to the fold.

Fasusi is as coveted a prospect as there is in the country. The Longhorns are battling Oklahoma and Texas A&M down the stretch heading into his Aug. 21 commitment date. “It’s going back and forth” a source told On3 on Saturday night. Texas is doing a great job staying in it and they’re showing Fasusi how Kelvin Banks has developed and telling him he’s got next.

“I loved the resources,” Fasusi has said in the past. “There is a lot Texas football has to offer. A lot Austin has to offer in general too.

“I can see the vision with them.”

Brooks has been a fluid recruitment as well with first Georgia, then USC and now Texas each grabbing momentum in the summer. He’s going to play his senior year in the Peach State but right now the Longhorns look like the one to beat for the Iowa native. We’ll see if that continues to hold true.

    Looking for flips

Texas got a big flip this past week turning On300 defensive lineman Josiah Sharma from Oregon. They’ll hunt for more.

The Longhorns will continue to recruit the On3 Industry’s No. 2 ranked linebacker Riley Pettijohn who committed to Ohio State on July 6. They’ll aim to get him to a game this fall.

Same goes with On300 defensive lineman Myron Charles . Florida State landed his verbal at the end of June but the Longhorns had some momentum in the spring and will work to get it back.

Texas will continue to recruit the likes of Oregon five-star commits in Dakorien Moore and Dallas Wilson as well. Moore is the On3 Industry’s No. 1 pass catcher and Wilson checks in at No. 5.

    Quick Hitters

Texas is in the top two or three for San Diego (Calif.) J Serra Catholic On300 linebacker Madden Faraimo . He isn’t expected to make a college decision until very late in the process. The On3 Industry tabs Faraimo as the country’s No. 8 linebacker and No. 84 prospect overall.

Sources around the Texas program feel good about the Longhorns position with Ruston (La.) High cornerback Aidan Anding .
