Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown has announced the city's five world championship as the 2024 honorees for the Youngstown Walk of Fame. Youngstown has five world championship boxers including Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik, Harry Arroyo, Jeff Lampkin and Greg Richardson. All five will be honored at once.
State finds 47 violations at Austintown mental and behavioral center, puts pause on new clients
Youth Intensive Services in Austintown can't accept any more clients until they make some changes. The Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services ordered the pause after they found 47 violations. The organization has a facility in the Mahoning Valley where children ages 12-18 stay to receive mental and behavioral support.

A 16-story apartment building in Ohio may reopen early next month, several weeks after it was temporarily shuttered following a deadly natural gas explosion that severely damaged a neighboring building. Youngstown officials had ordered the evacuation of the International Towers on June 10 after an engineering firm determined that the neighboring Realty Tower building remained structurally unsafe and was in “danger of imminent collapse.” Another nearby building, which houses the city’s only hotel, was also ordered closed. Austintown fire chief to retire at the end of the month
After 38 years of serving the Austintown Fire Department, Fire Chief Andy Frost plans to retire at the end of July. Frost stepped into the role of chief back in 2012, taking the reigns from his father. He started with the department in 1986 and eventually became full-time in 1992.
