AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Austintown Professional Firefighters called Wednesday a bittersweet day as they bid farewell to their chief of 12 years.

Chief Andrew Frost III, who led the department since 2012, is now retiring.

In a post on Facebook , the Austintown Professional Firefighters said Frost led with “courage, dignity, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring the best for the Austintown community.”

Chief Frost followed in his father’s footsteps who held the position for 30 years.

Now, the reins are being handed over to Assistant Fire Chief David Schertzer until they find a permanent replacement.
