Missouri woman serving life sentence for murder freed from prison
A Missouri woman who served 43 years in prison on a murder conviction has been freed after her attorney had established evidence of “actual innocence.” 64-year-old Sandra Hemme was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center this week after her sentence was overturned in June by a judge who threatened to hold Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s office in contempt if they continued to try to stop the ruling. Hemme had been serving a life sentence after she was twice convicted of the murder of Patricia Jeschke in 1980. Due to her long incarceration, she is not eligible for social security.
Trenton resident arrested on allegation of felony drug possession
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a resident on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance. Jeffrey Chad Corbin, a 26-year-old from Trenton, was taken into custody by the Trenton Police Department on July 24. Corbin’s bond has been set at $30,000 cash only. He is required to undergo urine analysis and is under the supervision of North Missouri Court Services. He is scheduled to appear before the Associate Division of Grundy County Circuit Court on August 13.
Hale Woman Arrested for Selling Drugs in Chillicothe Walmart Parking Lot
CHILLICOTHE, Mo - Chillicothe Police arrested two people for drug violations in the Walmart parking lot yesterday morning. According to a probable cause statement officers spoke first with a passenger of a parked Dodge Durango, asking where the driver was. He stated she was getting groceries. The driver, 42-year-old Maegan Ann Knouse of Hale was questioned as she returned from the store. During questioning officers noticed a ziploc bag sticking out of Knouse's pocket. She began trying to hide the bag from sight and eventually tried to rip it in half as the officers questioned her about it.

Chillicothe Police Report For Tuesday
Officers conducted traffic stops, business checks and responded to 90 calls for service on Tuesday. At 9:43 a.m., Officers conducted a drug investigation in the 1000 block of Graves St. Officers contacted a female, who attempted to evade officers, after officers discovered evidence of drug possession. Officers were able to detain the female and located evidence of distribution of a controlled substance. Officers arrested a 42-year-old female for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting detention/arrest and tampering with evidence. Officers also arrested a 26-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The male was processed at the Police Department and released pending a court appearance. The female was transported to the Caldwell County Detention Center and placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges.
