New Fort Wayne Urban League initiative to address interactions with police, create ties between officers and community
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Fort Wayne Urban League will be announcing a new initiative Thursday. “Mothers for the Movement – every child home alive” will focus on two key issues: developing training and language to educate the youth on proper protocols when interacting with police and creating opportunities for police to interact with children and the community.
HUD sending $2.3 million to Fort Wayne Housing Authority
The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development announced it is disseminating $40 million to different community organizations that work to prevent homelessness. The Fort Wayne Housing Authority was chosen to get $2.3 million of that fund. Officials said the funding should help both enhance current programs and create new ones to help impoverished people find and keep stable housing.

North Webster Town Council Approves Right-Of-Way Vacation In NWCC Parking Lot
NORTH WEBSTER - In an expected move, the North Webster Town Council approved the vacation of a a public right-of-way in the parking lot of the North Webster Community Center. This paves the way, literally, for the building of outdoor pickleball and basketball courts in part of the parking lot behind the NWCC. The new athletic facilities are being funded through a $242,500 donation given to the NWCC by the Shoop Sports and Youth Foundation in memory of Jon Sroufe, who was active in both organizations and in the town of North Webster.

The battle for the best fried chicken title continues in Indiana as Yelp Elites unveil their new favorite. Growing up in southern Indiana, fried chicken was a staple at my house. My family would usually order it from our local grocery store after church on Sunday, and it was always a meal I looked forward to. I've had a lot of great fried chicken over the years, so it's quite hard to pick a favorite. Some of the major chains that stick out in my mind are Church's Texas Chicken and Bojangles, but my regular go-to place is the JayC Food Store. That said, one restaurant in Indiana is now said to have the best fried chicken in the state.
