Party on, Greystone subdivision construction is done
Schuber Mitchell Homes is planning a block party to celebrate the end of construction in one of its Oronogo subdivisions and pledging to quell complaints in another. The Oronogo Board of Aldermen on Monday waived the special event permit for the Greystone Block Party, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.

Drought continues to fade away in Missouri
Drought conditions in Missouri continue to fade away. The latest drought monitor shows only one small abnormally dry area, covering portions of Newton, Jasper, Barry, and Lawrence counties in the southwest part of the state. An abnormally dry area that covered extreme southern Barry County last week is gone thanks to recent rainfall.

Kimberly Harper, an editor for the Missouri Historical Review, will discuss her new book, “Men of No Reputation: Robert Boatright, the Buckfoot Gang and the Fleecing of Middle America” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the library.
