Chris Russo sends morbid message on Jerry Jones' age

Does Chris Russo have some inside knowledge of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones?

Or did he just say something really awkward about the 81-year-old team owner Wednesday on ESPN’s First Take ?

Let’s hope the latter is the case. The panel discussed Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott’s possibility of winning MVP and his ongoing contract negotiations. Mad Dog said talk about him winning MVP is irrelevant, and that Jones is not going to pay Prescott until he proves he can win a Super Bowl.

Along the way, he mentioned Jones is 82 (he’ll hit that milestone on Oct. 13).

Molly Qerim seemed surprised: “He’s only 82?”

    “I think he’s 82,” Russo said.

“He’s younger than I thought,” Qerim said.

“You’re making it sound — he’s not 40. Eight-two’s not young!” Russo said.

Qerim said 82 is “young,” Russo disagreed, and Stephen A. Smith set the actuarial record straight.

“It’s not young, Molly,” he said.

“Not young. You can go any day at 82,” Russo said.

Qerim disagreed, asking everyone to “take it down a notch.”

“It’s true! It’s true!” Russo insisted.

    It was an uncomfortable conversation.

By the way, the Social Security Administration says an 82-year-old man can expect to live an additional 8.26 years. It’s understandable if Russo is a little concerned about the Cowboys owner, who puzzled many people with his rambling statements at the “State of the Cowboys” media conference in July.
