Former President Jimmy Carter is getting a star-studded tribute for his 100th birthday .

Driving the news: On Sept. 17, musical acts including Chuck Leavell, D-Nice, Drive-By Truckers and more will celebrate the one-time peanut farmer, governor and humanitarian with "Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song" at the Fox Theatre.

Why it matters: Carter, who entered hospice in February 2023, is the oldest living U.S. president and the only Georgian to occupy the White House.

    • He will turn 100 on Oct 1., nearly a year since the death of wife and former first lady Rosalynn Carter .

Zoom in: Other acts include Eric Church, GROUPLOVE, Maren Morris, The War and Treaty, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus. Actor Sean Penn, Atlanta Braves legend Dale Murphy and rapper Killer Mike are celebrity guests.

    • Rickey Minor of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "American Idol" fame will direct the show's music.

What they're saying: "Whether it was on his record player, on the campaign trail, or on the White House lawn, music has been – and continues to be – a source of joy, comfort, and inspiration for my grandfather," Jason Carter, the former president's grandson and chair of the Carter Center's board of trustees, said in a statement.

    • "I can think of no better way to celebrate him and his 100th birthday than a night of music."

Flashback: Music promoters and bands like the Allman Brothers Band forged strong ties with Carter and his campaign during his longshot White House bid in 1976.

Go: Tickets are $100 each (a nod to Carter's birthday) and available starting at 10am on Aug. 5. Proceeds will support the Carter Center.
