The path the Atlanta Hawks will have to traverse to get back to the NBA playoffs in the 2024-25 season has been unveiled.

State of play: The NBA released season schedules Thursday and here's what you need to know about the Hawks'.

    Season openers

Atlanta opens the season on Oct. 23 at home against the Brooklyn Nets and stays home for the second game of the season on Oct. 25 against the Charlotte Hornets.

    • Their first road game of the season comes Oct. 27 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

    Old faces, new places

The Hawks will see guard Dejounte Murray for the first time in New Orleans against the Pelicans on Nov. 3.

    • Atlanta traded Murray this summer after two unsuccessful seasons in a Hawks uniform which resulted in a first round playoff exit and a loss in the NBA play-in tournament.
    • Murray makes his return to State Farm Arena on Dec. 2.

You have to beat the champs

The saying is as old as time but if you want to be the champs, you have to beat the champs and the Hawks will get plenty of chances to do so.

    Legends coming to town

The heroes of Team USA basketball's Olympic run and superstars of the game all play in the Western Conference, meaning Hawks fans will get one chance to see them at State Farm Arena.

    • LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers come to town Dec. 6, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors visit March 22 and Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns swing by Jan. 14.

The bottom line: Buckle up! This will be a fun and massively important season for the future of the Hawks with star guard Trae Young and first overall pick Zaccharie Risacher .
