What's happening in Chicago during Labor Day weekend

This weekend, watch the Labor Day parade or enjoy live music at the Arc, North Coast or Jazz Festival.

1. 🎉 Labor Day parade

Chicago's historic Pullman neighborhood will host the Labor Day Parade and Eddie Fest this weekend.

Why it matters: One of the most consequential events of the American labor movement — the Pullman Strike — took place in the neighborhood in the late 19th century.

What to expect: Nearly 100 floats from unions, businesses, elected officials and community organizations will ride down South Cottage Grove Avenue. Route

• After the parade is Eddie Fest , which will feature live music, food and artisan vendors, bounce houses and activities for kids.

When: Parade steps off at noon Saturday. Eddie Fest goes until 4pm.

2. 🏈 Northwestern home opener

• The Wildcats will kick off their season against the Miami (OH) RedHawks 2:30pm Saturday at Martin Stadium . Tickets start at $89

3. 🎶 North Coast Music Festival

• Experience this electric outdoor music fest and its interactive installations 2pm-12am Friday-Saturday and 2-10:30pm Sunday at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview. Tickets start at $176

4. 🎺 Jazz Festival

• Enjoy music by local, national and international artists Thursday-Sunday at Millennium Park. Times vary; lineup here . Free
• Saturday's performances include Lincoln Park , Kenwood Academy and Whitney Young high school bands.

5. 🇵🇱 Taste of Polonia

• Enjoy Polish food, beer, live music, performances and games. The fun begins 5-10:30pm Friday, noon-10:30pm Saturday-Sunday and noon-9:30pm Monday at the Copernicus Center .

6. 🎵 Arc Music Festival

• Dance to house music 2-10pm Friday-Sunday at this year's Arc Fest. Dunes of Dawn , Luna Mar , Charlotte De Witte and more will perform at Union Park. Tickets start at $219

7. 🎨 West Loop Art Festival

• Stroll through six blocks of interactive art and live music in Fulton Market 5-10pm Friday, 10am-10pm Saturday and 10am-8pm Sunday. Free
