Storm damage keeps Rogers school closed

Greer Lingle Middle School students will start the school year elsewhere after their building was heavily damaged by the Memorial Day weekend storms , Rogers School District spokesperson Jason Ivester told Axios.

State of play: About 700 students in grades 6-8 will go to school in mobile classrooms on the west side of the Rogers New Technology High School campus for the school year.

Zoom out: The district was able to make repairs to schools like Frank Tillery and Westside elementaries in time for classes. Northside Elementary will be open, but its cafeteria will likely remain unusable until after spring break because of roof damage.

    • The kitchen is still functional, so food will still be prepared there and students will eat in their classrooms, Ivester said in an email.

What's next: Lingle Middle School on North 13th Street is being remodeled and is scheduled to reopen for the 2025-26 school year.
