Monday Munchies: Blackberry Brasserie brunch in Rogers

I haven't stopped thinking about the savory Southern plates at The Blackberry Brasserie since I tried them back in January , so news that the Rogers restaurant had added a brunch menu was my cue to return.

🍳 State of play: Just like at dinnertime, the restaurant takes well-known dishes and adds its own spin. I did not know that I wanted mushroom gravy, collard greens and squash on my eggs Benedict, but I certainly do now.

• The mushroom gravy, in particular, is the almost-surprisingly delicious thing tying this Greens 'n Things Benny ($17) together.
• The dish is also served with hollandaise sauce and poached eggs like any classic Benedict, plus a side of potatoes.

🧇 Zoom out: You'll find a chicken-and-waffle combo that went off to college and came back refined. The Maple Fried Chicken and Waffles ($20) is served with apple compote, whipped ricotta and arugula — and it's for people who want a thick cut of crispy fried chicken to balance out a sweet breakfast.

The vibe: The space, just like the menu, is comforting but elevated. Take note for when your parents are in town.

🍾 The intrigue: True to the name of the place, the menu is dotted with items that include blackberries. At brunch, that means starting off with blackberry scones ($8) that actually melt in your mouth and have a generous portion of the fruit baked in, plus a blackberry mimosa ($7). Or biscuits with blackberry jam ($8).

• But if you're wrong and don't like blackberries, the mimosas come in seven other flavors, like apple delight or lavender lemonade.
