Quality Inn on MLK in Fayetteville to be converted into affordable housing complex
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Affordable housing is an ongoing issue across Northwest Arkansas. In April, the Fayetteville City Council declared a housing crisis. At the last council meeting on June 25, the manager for Countdown Properties LLC Brandon Scallion proposed the plan of converting the Quality Inn motel off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard into affordable housing.
Horseshoe Bend Day Use area reopens ahead of 4th of July
ROGERS, Ark. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Beaver Lake Project Office, announced the reopening of the Horseshoe Bend Day Use area in Rogers. The campground was initially closed after the recent tornadoes left behind extensive debris. Now, with Fourth of July just around the corner, officials have announced reopenings.

City offices closed July 4, trash service will run on schedule
City offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Despite the closure, both residential and commercial recycling and trash pick up routes will run on their regular schedule. The city’s transfer station, compost site and household hazardous waste trailer will be closed on Thursday, however.

Largest business startup competition in the world coming to Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — In August, a qualifier event for the largest start up competition in the world, called the Startup World Cup, will be right here in Northwest Arkansas. "The Startup World Cup is a worldwide competition put on by Pegasus Ventures out of California. They work with regional organizations across the world to host qualifying events where startups entrepreneurs have the opportunity to pitch locally. Residents in east Fayetteville and Goshen are being asked to conserve water and adjust their irrigation schedules. Officials said dry conditions and extreme heat have led to an increased demand on the city’s water system, which has resulted in reduced water pressure for some customers, according to a news release. Fayetteville installs new EV charging station near Dickson Street

The city last week installed a new EV charging station on Level 2 of the West Avenue parking deck.
