Texas-based Home Run Dugout to open indoor baseball restaurant and bar in Scottsdale

Soon you'll have an opportunity in the Valley to practice batting and knock one out of the park between beers and chicken wings.

The big picture: Home Run Dugout plans to open its first non-Texas location in Scottsdale, near Loop 101 and Talking Stick Way.

    • Construction is scheduled to begin next year, though there's no estimated completion date.
    • The Arizona location will be over 65,000 square feet and include more than 30 patented Batting Bays.
    • It'll also have a full restaurant and three bars.

How it works: Home Run Dugout touts itself as the only entertainment venue featuring "indoor soft-toss baseball."

    • Balls pop up from the floor in Batting Bays, and hitters can crank them into virtual simulations of various major league ballparks.
    • You can also play a game on a Biergarten Baseball mini-field, a full-size wiffle ball and kickball field that customers can rent.

1 big hot dog: The menu includes an item that's sure to appeal to any Diamondbacks fan — "The Big Unit," a foot-long hot dog with brisket chili, spicy slaw, jack cheese, crispy onions, pickled jalapeños and their signature "dinger sauce."

Catch up quick: Home Run Dugout was founded in 2015 and opened its first standalone location in 2021 in Katy, Texas.

    • Home Run Dugout also licenses its Batting Bays to third parties like hotels, casinos, resorts, stadiums, sports complexes and entertainment centers.
