Sammy Hagar wants you to buy his "badass" "rock star" LaFerrari

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar will hand over what he told Axios on Tuesday was his "badass" "rock star" LaFerrari to the highest bidder at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction in October.

The big picture: "Honestly, It's just too much car for me. This is a real race car. This should belong to someone who has great eyesight, great reflexes, about half my age — and very wealthy," Hagar told us before his concert at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre.

    • The car will be auctioned off on the eve of his 77th birthday.

Flashback: Hagar was one of 499 people invited to purchase a LaFerrari, the premier model from the luxury Italian carmaker.

    • He flew to Italy and worked with the company's design team to select a vanilla-colored exterior and black and white interior.
    • In Hagar's humble opinion, it's the most beautiful of all 499 LaFerraris.

The intrigue: Barrett-Jackson Auction Company chairman and CEO Craig Jackson tells us he has his eye on another of Hagar's Ferraris (he has eight others).

    • Hagar's 1982 Ferrari 512BB is beautiful in its own right, but its place in rock-and-roll history makes it even more valuable.

Zoom in: That car was featured in Hagar's iconic " I Can't Drive 55 " music video — and helped him score the lead singer gig in Van Halen.

    • Eddie Van Halen saw the Ferrari at his mechanic shop and asked whose it was. The mechanic told him about Hagar and said, "You should get him in your band," Hagar told us.

The bottom line: "That car's got a little history to it, now that I think about it," Hagar said.

    • "I'm in no hurry, Sammy. Whenever you're ready," Jackson teased.
