Dallas man caught smuggling immigrants in McLennan County indicted by grand jury
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Dallas man arrested in April on charges he was smuggling four immigrants from Mexico to Dallas was indicted Tuesday. Guillermo Ramirez Hernandez, 46, was charged by a McLennan County grand jury with four counts of smuggling of persons. Three of the charges are third-degree felonies, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. A fourth count is a second-degree felony, with a penalty up to 20 years, because it alleges Hernandez was trying to smuggle a person younger than 18.
Waco gang members sentenced to prison for various crimes, eligible for parole in 7 1/2 years after plea deal
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Two men identified by police as Waco gang members were sentenced to 30 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to dealing drugs and other crimes. Judge Thomas West of Waco’s 19th State District Court sentenced Omarion Haynes, 21, and Damondre Maurice Williams, 24, after approving their plea agreements with the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office.

New city of Waco landfill nearing completion as the current landfill fills up
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The city of Waco landfill was purchased from the city of Woodway back in 1986, and after 38 years, is almost full. The city’s director of solid waste told KWTX they anticipate the existing landfill will only be in operation through 2025, which is right in time for the opening of a new landfill along FM 939 between Mount Calm and Axtell.
