Suspect arrested for overnight murder in Ayden

AYDEN, N.C. (WNCT) – One man is dead and another man faces murder charges after a shooting in Ayden.

Around 2:00 Sunday morning, officials with the Ayden Police Department say officers
responded to Legacy Lounge located at 6250 Hwy 11 about a
gunshot victim.

Officers arrived to find a male victim had been shot. The victim was taken to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville where he died from his injuries. The identity of the victim is currently being withheld. Officers arrested Eric Lee Midgette, 31, of Kinston at the scene and
charged him with an open count of murder.
