On top of another thrilling win at home Tuesday night, the Diamondbacks received some positive news on the injury status of All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte.

Marte has a low grade left ankle sprain, manager Torey Lovullo said following Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies, and his status is day to day.

"We're going to continue to monitor him every night, every morning when he comes in, just see where he's at," Lovullo said. "Hoping that he'll be able to find his way into the lineup whether it's emergency only, whether it's off the bench or whether it's a start."

There will be no injured list designation for Marte, who is having an MVP-type season for the Diamondbacks. He's two home runs away from tying his career high, 32, and since July 10 has 30 runs batted in, 13 home runs and is batting .363 over his past 27 games.

Marte was not seen in the Diamondbacks dugout during Tuesday's game but was at Chase Field getting treatment for his injury. He had an MRI done on his ankle earlier in the day.

Marte was hurt in Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, when Garrett Stubbs slid headfirst into Marte's ankle over second base. Marte had to leave the game, did not play Sunday and tried to play Monday but aggravated the injury during his first at-bat on Monday and left the game.

Lovullo said he hopes Marte is available off the bench Wednesday when the Diamondbacks wrap up a seven-game homestand with a day game against the Rockies.
