Arizona State men's basketball coach Bobby Hurley built a legacy as a player at Duke. Now, the former Blue Devil will return and take his Sun Devils with him.

ASU will play a charity exhibition game against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Oct. 27. That announcement came from Duke on its social media accounts. Proceeds will go toward the Duke Children's Hospital.

Hurley played for Duke, then led by legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski, from 1989 to 1993, leading the team to national championships in 1991 and 1992.

He recorded an NCAA all-time assists total of 1,076, which still stands. He also holds Duke's single-game assist record with 16 against Florida State on Feb. 24, 1993.

Hurley was a first-round draft pick out of Duke in 1993, chosen by the Sacramento Kings with the seventh overall pick.

"I'm grateful to Jon Scheyer and Duke basketball for working with Arizona State basketball to make this exhibition game a reality," Hurley said in a release. "It will be special for me to return to Cameron Indoor. Our team is excited for the opportunity to compete against a storied basketball program prior to embarking on our regular season schedule. The collaboration between Duke and Arizona State to put together this charity exhibition game supporting Duke Children's Hospital is meaningful to both programs."

How much does Duke mean to Hurley? He named his first daughter Cameron after the famed venue.

Arizona State moves into the Big 12 this season. While a 14-18 record a year ago was disappointing, there is renewed enthusiasm around the program thanks to a recruiting class ranked No. 2 in the country . High school prospects Jayden Quaintance and Joson Sanon lead the load of newcomers.
