Ridder had been in a battle with Clayton Tune to be the backup QB to Kyler Murray.

Arizona Cardinals should target New York Giants pass rusher

Pass rusher is a huge question mark for Arizona this season and ESPN's Bill Barnwell has a suggestion to help the team at the position.

He thinks the Cardinals should trade for New York Giants edge Azeez Ojulari before the NFL cut deadline Tuesday.

If the name Ojulari sounds familiar, it's because he is the brother of current Cardinals edge BJ Ojulari, who is injured.

Barnwell wrote: "Selected by Dave Gettleman in the final draft of the prior regime in New York, Ojulari got off to a promising start as a rookie, racking up eight sacks and 13 knockdowns. Since then, injuries have limited him to eight sacks across 18 games over the past two seasons. He could be a useful player to hold in reserve, but the Giants might want to recoup some of the draft capital they sent the Panthers for (Brian) Burns if they can get a good offer in Ojulari’s final season before free agency."

Could Arizona Cardinals make huge move after trade?

Sports Illustrated's Donnie Druin speculated that the Cardinals could be in line to make a big move at pass rusher after trading Cameron Thomas, speculating that Haason Reddick or Yannick Ngakoue could end up in Arizona.

He wrote: "Perhaps the talents of Haason Reddick could return - the Cardinals would have to pay some big bucks to their former first-round pick, though he'd easily walk into Arizona as the top pass rusher and has previous experience with Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who was his defensive coordinator during their time together in Philadelphia. Perhaps free agent Yannick Ngakoue is in the mix, though the player who was once one of the best in the business played just 13 games last year and would likely arrive on a one-year prove-it deal out of free agency."

Arizona Cardinals make trade as cuts loom

NFL Media reported Monday night that the Arizona Cardinals traded edge rusher Cameron Thomas to the Kansas City Chiefs for a seventh round pick.

The Cardinals drafted Thomas out of San Diego State in the third round in 2022.

The trade might open a spot for Jesse Luketa to make the Arizona Cardinals' 53-player roster.
