The series provides a retrospective of 10 years of dedication, perseverance and enjoyment in shaping a new type of town.

Season four, “Ecology & The Harmony of Coexistence,” continues this series by focusing on Babcock Ranch’s environmental initiatives. This season features Christina Kontos, Babcock Ranch’s environmental manager and wildlife biologist, highlighting Babcock Ranch’s balance with nature, spotlighting the thousands of acres of preserves and wetlands. The episodes emphasize the community’s commitment to stewardship, sustainability and preservation by revealing the efforts in responsible development, land and water management, biodiversity and education.

Babcock Ranch dedicates 13,000 acres to preserves.

“Understanding the wildlife that lives here gives you more comfort and understanding of what to expect… [and] how to behave around the wildlife, which creates that sustainable community that is much needed and very important,” Kontos said in episode one.

The newly released episodes include discussions on prescribed burns, integrating wildlife culverts below roads and restoring Curry Lake to its historical ecosystem. These conservation practices enhance the environment and create vital habitats for endangered species, such as the Everglade snail kite, which has returned to the area thanks to successful hydrological restoration efforts. One episode is entirely dedicated to the town’s diverse bird populations, both permanent and migratory.

The series also showcases the community’s engagement with nature through educational programs. Residents participate in nature walk-and-talks, exploring trails and witnessing the region’s biodiversity firsthand. These programs foster a deeper understanding of Florida’s unique ecology, connecting residents with their environment.

“What’s truly wonderful is that by making life better for our wild creatures, we’re making life better for all the people who live here,” Kitson said.
