Letter to the Editor: Clean It Up
Whether you are a tourist visiting this beautiful part of Wisconsin, or a long-time resident, I invite you to take a drive along County Road ZZ. It winds from Sister Bay, past orchards and forest, to the beautiful Rowley’s Bay. On a gradual descent, the road takes you past Wagon Trail Campground, and as the lake finally comes into view, there is a breathtaking vista of Rowley’s Bay to your left. And to your right, you view the burned-out vacant shell of Rowley’s Bay Resort.

A Door County hard cider maker wins multiple awards in national competitions
ELLISON BAY - A Door County-based hard cider maker recently won two platinum medals and two gold medals in two cider tasting competitions. Island Orchard Cider was recognized with two platinum medals and one gold medal in the Cidercraft Awards and a gold medal in the Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition, the world’s largest international hard cider competition. Those medals are among 11 awards Island Orchard earned in the 2024 hard cider competition season.

Gibraltar Talks Series Starts July 11
The Gibraltar Historical Association will host its first Gibraltar Talks event on July 11, 7 pm, at Old Gibraltar Town Hall, 4176 Maple St. in Fish Creek. During the event, local vintage music expert David Watkins will explain the connection between Chambers Island, Paramount Records and the Alexander Noble House. The program will also explore the life of Fred Dennett, who owned Paramount Records as well as the entirety of Chambers Island, minus the lighthouse.
