LSU in strong position for 5-star receiver Derek Meadows ahead of Saturday commitment
LSU will hope its recent momentum on the recruiting trail will continue as it looks to land its second five-star prospect of the week on Saturday. Cornerback DJ Pickett, a top-10 prospect in America, committed on Wednesday. Now, Las Vegas receiver Derek Meadows from powerhouse Bishop Gorman is set to announce his decision on Saturday, with LSU and Notre Dame reportedly in the driver’s seat, according to LSU Country’s Zack Nagy. Meadows was originally set to decide last Saturday but reportedly delayed his commitment in part due to an “impressive” NIL package offered from the Fighting Irish. Alabama was also considered to be in the mix, but a commitment from five-star Caleb Cunningham likely ended the Tide’s pursuit. Now, it’s the Tigers and Notre Dame emerging down the stretch. Meadows ranks as a four-star prospect and the No. 41 player nationally in the On3 industry rankings, but 247Sports’ rankings give him five stars. The Irish are currently the favorite to land him per On3’s recruiting prediction machine, but LSU is gaining ground.
