NEW ORLEANS – The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation is proud to announce two local leaders have been selected to join its Board of Directors. Wendy Brunet Burns and Patrick Kiernan were nominated and approved by the board at the June meeting. Burns and Kiernan bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to support the Sports Foundation’s mission of attracting and managing major sporting events that create economic impact and positive media opportunities for the State of Louisiana and the Greater New Orleans area.

"Studies indicate that excessive heat triggers feelings of anxiety, agitation, irritation, and cognitive difficulties. In fact, during heat waves, we see an increase of suicides, substance use, domestic violence and emergency room visits due to mental health issues. The heat doesn't cause mental health issues, but it does exacerbate many of the symptoms that people experience,” Susan Albers, a psychologist, said.
