    Central Bakersfield mural captures natural beauty of Kern County

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — New artwork is showing off the beauty of Kern County and the Golden Empire.

    Work is underway for a new mural in central Bakersfield. It’s called “Kern River Valley” by artist Wendy Johnson. The mural is on the retaining wall before the Highway 99 onramp on California Avenue.

    It’s the first installment of a three-mural project designed to highlight the beauty and essence of Kern County.

    The artwork is collaboration between the Arts Council of Kern, Caltrans and Clean California.
