BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Convicted murderer Trevon Lee Foreman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and other charges filed in connection with a deadly shooting in 2017.

Court Commissioner Sally Ackerknecht ordered Foreman, 28, held without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled next month.

Foreman and Jemiah Dawson, 29, are suspected of killing Maurice Wright on Oct. 7, 2017, police said.

According to a probable cause declaration, the shooting at the front of Tecate Market on South King Street was committed to benefit the Country Boy Crips street gang.

In 2021, Foreman was found guilty of murder and two counts of attempted murder in a March 2018 shooting that killed Ruben Antonio Garcia, 26, and wounded two others.
